WBC interim lightweight champion William Zepeda (32-0, 27 KOs) is set to face Tevin Farmer (33-7-1, 8 KOs) in a rematch on Saturday night, March 29th, in Cancun, Mexico.
Zepeda has itted his main goal for this fight is to record a ‘clear victory’ over Farmer. He wants to leave no doubt about the outcome, ensuring that this time there are no questions about who the winner is.
“We decided to get this rematch. Aside from being ranked #1, because we know Tevin Farmer implies a challenge for me right now,” Zepeda said.
“A challenge to leave the fans with another satisfying fight to prove who William Zepeda is in the division, and securing a clear victory on my record.” Zepeda added.
Zepeda narrowly won a 10-round match by split decision in their last fight on November 16th. However, many fans thought that Farmer did well enough to deserve the victory.
The Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya spoke his excitement about the first fight between Zepeda and Farmer.
De La Hoya felt the match was outstanding and called it ‘terrific.’ He also praised the event, Late Nights in Riyadh, saying it was amazing.
Overall, De La Hoya expressed that every fight on the event card was impressive from start to finish.
“I thought the first fight was terrific. Late Nights in Riyadh was incredible, the whole card top to bottom,” De La Hoya said.
“I thought that Farmer’s style with Zepeda was a perfect fight. It’s going to be a great fight again.
“But I’m looking for William Zepeda to step it up and possibly knock out Tevin Farmer. It’s not easy. Farmer is a mechanic up there in the ring.” De La Hoya added.
By fighting in Cancun, both fighters are preparing for an exciting and decisive match, where Zepeda aims to prove his superiority and solidify his status as a champion.
