South America’s young guns are here to write a new chapter for their region.
South America has been on the rise for a few years, constantly injecting new talent into the scene and becoming a fierce contender on the international stage. The region’s peak was achieved at last year’s The International when for the first time ever, SA had four teams competing at the pinnacle Dota 2 event. However, none of their teams made it even to the top 8 at TI12, and entering a new season, where the DPC was discontinued, SA is now in free fall.
beastcoast was once the most successful organisation from SA. From first to reach top 6 at a Dota 2 Major, first to reach top 8 on The International stage, beastcoast were forced to reinvent themselves in 2024. After a disastrous exit in the bottom four at TI12, the organisation lost its entire roster and it took a couple of months before being ready to introduce a new team.
At the end of January 2024, beastcoast revealed a team of youngsters with little to no competitive experience, led in battle by Joel “MoOz” Ozambela, who at 24 years old is the only veteran on the team. Another SA veteran is there to help the team nurture their youngsters. Mariano “Papita” Caneda sits in the coaching seat working closely with MoOz to get the team ready for the big battle at The International 2024.
