Real Madrid successfully silenced Sevilla in the 18th week of La Liga 2024/2025 at the Santiago Bernabeu, Sunday (22/12/2024).
This match was exciting, but only in the first half. In the second half the tempo of the game decreased, especially after Madrid had widened its lead.
Madrid’s goals were scored by Kylian Mbappe, Federico Valverde, Rodrygo, and Brahim Diaz. Meanwhile, Sevilla’s goals were presented by Isaac Romero and Dodi Lukebakio.
This result made Madrid collect 40 points from 18 matches and they have now risen to second place in the 2024/2025 Spanish League standings. Meanwhile, Sevilla is in 12th position with 22 points.
At the beginning of the first half, Sevilla tried to put up resistance. However, their efforts did not last long.

Sevilla then tried to press again. However, they were hit by a deadly counterattack from Madrid in the 34th minute. They attacked from the right and the ball ed by Vazquez into the middle of the penalty box was pounced on by Rodrygo. 3-0!
However, after that Madrid was careless. In the 35th minute, Sevilla was able to break through El Real’s goal through Isaac Romero’s header, after receiving a cross from Sanchez on the right wing. 3-1!
After that, no more goals were scored until halftime. Real Madrid 3-1 Sevilla.
Sevilla immediately pressed Real Madrid’s defense as soon as the second half started. They got a golden opportunity in the 47th minute.
Thibaut Courtois misplaced the ball in the penalty box and the opponent was able to steal the ball in the left halfspace.
The ball was then ed to Romero in the middle of the penalty box who immediately fired a left-footed shot. But fortunately Courtois had returned to his position and was able to block the shot.
In the 53rd minute the goal was finally scored, against Sevilla again. After good cooperation between three players, Mbappe gave a through ball to Brahim Diaz into the penalty box in the right halfspace. With a kick of his left foot, he broke through the opponent’s goal. 4-1!
After that Madrid relaxed their attacks. They still pressed Sevilla but in a relaxed manner, while controlling the game.
In the 73rd minute Sevilla was able to create danger in Madrid’s defense. Isaac fired a shot inside the penalty box. But the ball only hit the left goalpost.
In the 83rd minute Sevilla threatened again, this time from Sambi Lokonga’s rocket from outside the penalty box. The ball slightly swerved because it hit a Madrid defender but Courtois was able to push it out of the field.
In the 85th minute, Sevilla finally scored a goal. They launched a counterattack from the left via Lukebakio. He fired a shot from a tight angle and Courtois failed to hold the ball. 4-2!
In the end, no more goals were scored until the match ended even though both teams were still attacking each other. Real Madrid 4-2 Sevilla.
