Novak Djokovic Not Concerned About Injuries Ahead of the Australian Open 6u424n

Novak Djokovic, worried that facing an injury ahead of Australian Open, which could be dampened a bit treatments from physio.

Questions about the Serb’s health condition were sparked by his Adelaide International 1 semi-final against Daniil Medvedev when he appeared to have trouble with his leg. But he was able to win the match in straight sets. Back on court 24 hours later, he moved freely through the marathon final before he beat Sebastian Korda in three sets.

Shortly after claiming his 92nd career title, the former world number 1 confirmed he had undergone treatment to his hamstring, but he is not worried the injury will pose a threat to his quest to win a record tenth Australian Open title.

“I woke up feeling fine. I slept well after getting treatment from my physio. I also discussed with the doctor,” said Novak Djokovic.

“There’s a lot of work done to my hamstring going into the game. Everything is alright. On a few occasions during the match, I felt a bit tight in my muscles, but nothing that would worry me about my performance.”

The Serb’s focus has now turned to Melbourne Park, where he will be playing at the venue for the first time since the 2021 season. Last season, he was forced to miss all tournaments in Australia, including the Australian Open, after being deported over a visa issue. Initially he was banned from visiting Australia for three years until last November when the Australian government decided to overturn the penalty.

“I don’t hold any grudges,” Djokovic itted. “I can tell you I had a lot more positive experiences in Australia to forget just because of what happened last season.”

“I feel very comfortable with the people, who follow sports, who I meet every day. So far I haven’t had a negative experience. So everyone I meet, whether in the city or in the forest, I actually saw some kangaroos, talked to the local people, everyone was very nice, very ive.”

“So there’s no reason for me to feel any different than I received from them.”

Since the 2019 season, he has won 34 straight matches in Australia.

“I am very happy to play in Australia. I mean, my results here are proof of that. I’m not going to play impressively in a place where I don’t feel so good,” said Djokovic.

“I’m looking forward to going to Melbourne. Rod Laver Arena maybe, maybe not, but definitely the most successful course of my career. I really enjoy playing there. I look forward to it.”

“I have a week to recover and work on specific areas of my game, my body and get my mind in the right shape to play five set best and hopefully for two weeks.”
