Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah spoke with manager Arne Slot at the start of the season and their conversation resulted in his remarkable performance of scoring 33 goals while making 23 assists this season.
Slot delivered his tactical blueprint for the team and showed how he intended to incorporate Salah into his strategies.
“I told him ‘as long as you rest me defensively, I will provide offensively’,” Salah said.
“Try to rest me as much as I can, then I will show you the numbers. So I’m glad that I did.” Salah added.
The way Slot communicated with Salah after becoming the head coach produced a compelling storey about how manager mindset and dialogue directly enhance player achievement and team success.
“He’s the manager of course, but he listens a lot, so I spoke to him and he bought the idea. You can see the numbers!” Salah said.
“To be fair it’s quite tricky, because when you play in the Premier League you have to defend also your left-back.
“But I spoke to him and told him ‘I can gamble somehow, a little bit here or there, but when we get the ball I’m always free, I can make the difference’.” Salah added.
According to a record, the 2024-2025 season ended with 33 goals and 23 assists from Salah across all competitions.
“I think my number of assists also shows that. It’s not only about goals, it’s also about creating chances and just making a difference for the team.” Salah said.
Salah recorded the Premier League goal involvement record of 46 by establishing 47 points.
The stadium at Anfield turned into a joyful din of celebration on Sunday after Liverpool sealed the 2024/2025 Premier League victory through their 5-1 triumph against Tottenham Hotspur.
