MidOne returns from hiatus to stand-in for Tundra Esports in PGL Wallachia Season 4 Playoffs 4l4uc

MidOne’s last pro Dota 2 appearance saw him stand-in for Tundra Esports in PGL Wallachia Season 2.
PGL Wallachia Season 4 wrapped up its Group Stage with eight teams advancing to the Playoffs while eight others were eliminated. Western European powerhouse Tundra Esports are one of the eight survivors, securing three wins against a loss en route to the Playoffs. But interestingly, the team will field a different offlaner heading into the next stage.

Prolific Malaysian player Nai Zheng “MidOne” Yeik will be standing in for Neta “33” Shapira in the offlane position, as announced by the team on 20 April. MidOne had been in the coaching seat for a few days prior, filling in for David “MoonMeander” Tan throughout the Group Stage. But the Playoffs will now see MidOne take to the battlefield as 33 steps away for undisclosed reasons.

This will mark MidOne’s first pro Dota 2 appearance in six months, with his last stint saw him first Tundra as a stand-in for PGL Wallachia Season 2 in October 2024. He notably helped the team finish third in the tournament.

Tundra Esports’ roster heading into PGL Wallachia Season 4 Playoffs is as follows:

Remco “Crystallis” Arets
Bozhidar “bzm” Bogdanov
Nai Zheng “MidOne” Yeik (stand-in)
Martin “Saksa” Sazdov
Matthew “Whitemon” Filemon
Looking back at MidOne’s Dota 2 career
MidOne may have faded from the top tier of Dota 2 over the past two years, with his last notable result as a full member of a team being a Top 8 finish at ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 with Team Secret, but his legacy goes beyond that.

The Malaysian player is best known for his flashy plays on the mid lane, which helped him make an immediate impact when he started his professional Dota 2 career. His first year was with Southeast Asian powerhouse Fnatic, where he impressively secured a fourth place finish at The International (TI) 2016.

But his prime years came after he ed Team Secret in late 2017. His historic run with the org saw him claim two Major titles in 2019 at the Chongqing Major and the Disneyland Paris Major, along with another fourth place finish at TI that same year.

However, MidOne’s performance began to dip after ing OG during the pandemic era in 2020. He later returned to his home region to build and compete with Team SMG from 2021 to 2023. After that stint also fell short, his final appearance came with Secret in late 2023, although the run only lasted two months.

MidOne will don the Tundra jersey once again in the coming days as the team pushes forward in the PGL Wallachia Season 4 Playoffs. His first match with Tundra in Wallachia will be against the team’s regional rivals in Team Liquid in the upper bracket quarterfinals.
