Marc Marquez has itted he will return to racing in 2021. The Spaniard suffered a broken right arm during the first race of the 2020 MotoGP season at Jerez in July.
The reigning MotoGP champion then had to undergo a third operation on his right arm in Madrid in early December and likely face a six-month recovery period.
Meanwhile, Alex Marquez approached his debut season in the premier class with a completely open mind, ready to learn and grow as a MotoGP rider.
“Watching the races on TV is different, at the beginning it was very difficult. Then you understand it, you try to collaborate with the team.” Marquez said.
“I mostly talked to Alex, I tried to give him some advice when he asked me. I told him that he should call me. Then I talked to Santi about what they were testing with Stefan Bradl.
“It was not to completely disconect from the world, but there was a moment when I just wtahced the races, I followed my brother.” Marquez added.
Alex ed the Repsol Honda Team for the MotoGP season. The rookie ended the 2020 season in 14th position overall. It has been a strong season for Alex with two podiums, able to improve with each round and constinually learn.
“When he signed with HRC many people said they had taken him because he is ‘the brother of’. Alex is there because he is a two-time world champion, in Moto3, in Moto2. Then there was a particular situation, in which Jorge Lorenzo retired, so Honda went to look for the world champion.” Marquez said.
“If you ask me if he is my brother or my worst enemy, I say there are no enemies, but he is my worst rival. Honda believes in him and has always deserved it, but he is Alex Marquez and I am Marc Marquez.” he added.
