Loris Baz leaves MotoGP for Superbike World Championship 145kb

Avintia Racing Team’s Loris Baz is reported he will Superbike World Championship this year after losing his MotoGP seat at the end of 2017. The Frenchman said he is “proud” of his career, given the circumstances after three seasons spent in MotoGP.

The Avintia team prefers Tito Rabat and rookie rider Xavier Simeon to become their riders in the 2018 season. However, the 24-year-old man said he is not going to give up to MotoGP and hope a comeback to MotoGP which in the next season he will compete temporarily to Superbikes.

“I want to be in Superbike. I’ve been there, I’ve always said that it is a really good champion. I will be happy to be back there, especially if I can fight on the podium like I did a few years ago.” Baz said.

“I am only 24 years old. I have three years of Superbike and three years of MotoGP in my career, so there is always time to come back in a few years.

“The winning bikes of this season are all take. We are looking for the best project and talking with a few teams like Red Bull Honda’s Ten Kate.

“That would be something cool, to work with a team like them and to bring them to the win. They were a winning team for many years but are struggling a little bit now.

“I’ve seen fast in Superbike, I know most of the tracks, I know the championship, the tyres so it could be a good thing. That is not the only thing, we are talking with other people too trying to find the best seat.” he added.

Baz ed MotoGP with NGM Forward in 2015 and Avintia Ducati in 2016/17. He scored 108 points and seven results in the top-10, including at Misano GP and Brono GP.

“The first year, I managed to finish fourth at Misano with the Yamaha heroes and in the following seasons, I was quick with Avintia. Given my size and the private motorcycles piloted, I am proud of my experience.” Baz said.

“When I arrived in MotoGP, I found more than one critic who would have voluntarily bet against me. For some I was a rider too big and too heavy, unable to run on a Grand Prix bike.” he added.
