Krack: Aston Martin close to agreeing F1 cost cap penalty with FIA 3n2m3d

Mike Krack, Aston Martin Formula 1 team boss, claims the team is close to reach an agreement with FIA over cost cap breach. They are close to finalising an Accepted Breach Agreement.

The team alongside Williams and Red Bull are criticized for failing to comply with 2021 financial regulations.

Aston Martin has engaged the authorities over procedural error. The ABA means team accepts its fault and okay with the penalty decision of authority.

Krack, team boss, said about the situation, “We are in discussion with the FIA.

“I think it will be something that we try to conclude in the next days. So we had some discussions over the weekend as well with them.”

Krack does not think it caused huge damage to the team.

“I think it’s complex. It’s a complex set of regulations,” he said.

“And it is not frustrating, it shows us that we have to do a better job in the future, that we are not having such issues.

“But at the end of the day, I think probably the most important thing is that we were under the cap. And the rest is procedural.”

The Aston team breached a tax related regulation, specific to UK. FIA and the team interpreted the regulation differently, causing the breach. However, Krack did not share any further details on the matter.

“I would prefer that we have a signed agreement before we can go into it,” he added.

“There will also be a press release. I think from the FIA. So there will be more details in the coming days.”

Plus: Red Bull “never stopped believing”

Krack remained unaware of any dates for the announcement from FIA. But added both cases are not interlinked. Therefore, authorities does not have to necessarily wait for Milton Keynes case finalization.

The FIA put RB case on hold following the death of team owner, Dietrich Mateschitz.

“I understood from reading [the media] that they postponed, because of Dietrich Mateschitz,” said Krack.

“Actually, they are two independent things. So I would not mind that we finish ours as quickly as possible. And also, it’s a different situation, we are not overspending.

“It depends also on the FIA. And then now we have people travelling, but I think we did a couple of steps this weekend. So I think we’re not far. But I cannot tell you if it’s tomorrow, or Wednesday or whatever.”
