Spanish racer Joan Mir called Indonesia a fantastic country to visit during the 2024 Mandalika MotoGP, this weekend.
Mir has visited the Mandalika Circuit in Lombok, Indonesia three times. The first is during the 2022 MotoGP test, the second is the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP, and the third is the 2023 Mandalika MotoGP.
This 27 year old racer itted that he was impressed with the race in Mandalika. There are challenges compared to other GPs. Because of this, Mir is enthusiastic about welcoming the 2024 Mandalika Pertamina Grand Prix MotoGP.
“Indonesia is a fantastic country to visit. Lombok is an extraordinary island. You have to fight many things there, the heat and sometimes the rain,” said Mir.
Currently Mir has arrived in Indonesia to adapt. Racing in Mandalika does require more adaptation, especially regarding the weather which is quite hot.
“It’s great to get on the plane after achieving better results, of course there is still work to do to get back to where we need to be.”
“Now we have to confirm it as our place in the next race. We have found something in the last few months, so this is positive,” said Mir.
In 2022, Mir will occupy sixth place in the Mandalika MotoGP. Then in 2023 Mir had an accident during the race so he couldn’t finish the race.
Now, Mir hopes to record better achievements. Moreover, Mir’s achievements before appearing at the 2024 Mandalika MotoGP were quite good, ranking 11th in Emilia Romagna.
Not only Mir, MotoGP star Aleix Espargaro immediately enjoyed the sea view after arriving in Lombok.
Espargaro is not the first racer to arrive in Indonesia. Previously, Pramac Racing player Jorge Martin had already landed in Bali.
Martin also took advantage of his free time before leaving for Lombok. In Bali, the Spaniard seems to be keeping his body in top condition by exercising.
The Mandalika Circuit will be one of the witnesses of the competition for the title this season. The reason is, a number of racers still have the opportunity to emerge as MotoGP champions in 2024.
Jorge Martin, who leads the 2024 MotoGP standings, came to Mandalika with a 24-point advantage over sco Bagnaia, who failed to finish in the 2024 Emilia Romagna MotoGP.
