Jannik Sinner beat his Davis Cup teammate, Matteo Berrettini, 7-6 (7/3), 7-6 (7/4), 2-6, 7-6 (7/4), in three hours 42 minutes.

Berrettini hit 65 winners, including 28 aces, to trouble Sinner. But Sinner rallied in the fourth set before appearing calm in the tiebreak when Berrettini made his 48th unforced error of the match.

“It was very difficult when we had to face each other in the second round,” said Sinner as quoted by AFP.

Sinner next met Miomir Kecmanovic to compete for a ticket to the last 16.

Alcaraz won in three straight sets 7-6 (7/5), 6-2, 6-2 over world number 69 from Australia, Aleksandar Vukic.

The third seed from Spain appeared convincing throughout the match. Alcaraz’s only dip in performance came when he threw away a 5-2 lead to trail 5-6.

However, Alcaraz remained calm and then defeated the opponent who had defeated him in the 2020 French Open qualifiers. 4x123g

Four-time major champion Osaka played on Center Court for the first time since 2019, but lost 4-6, 1-4 to American Emma Navarro in just 59 minutes.

Fabio Fognini wasted several match points before winning 6-4, 7-5, 6-7 (1/7), 6-3 over eighth seed Casper Ruud.

2021 US Open champion Daniil Medvedev recovered from falling behind in the first set to win 6-7 (3/7), 7-6 (7/4), 6-4, 7-5 over Alexandre Muller.

Women’s world number two and US Open champion Coco Gauff advanced to the third round with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Anca Todoni of Romania.
