A shocking news came from AC Milan. Their coach, Gennaro Gattuso decided to resign from his position as the Rossonerri notch interpreter next season.
The 41-year-old coach first coached Milan in 2017. He replaced Vincenzo Montella as the tactician of Milan after the former AS Roma player was sacked by Rossonerri management.
For the past two years Gattuso’s performance with Milan is impressive. He managed to make the Rossonerri compete to finish in the top four, where this season they failed to reach that position after losing one point from Inter Milan who finished fourth.
Gattuso appeared to be disappointed at that, and he confirmed that he would step down from his position as Milan coach. “Deciding to leave the Milan bench is not an easy thing, but this is a decision I must make,” Gattuso told Repubblica.
Gattuso itted that he was very reluctant to leave AC Milan. But he chose to make that decision because according to him this was the best for his team.
“I have not decided this in the past few months. I took this decision after 18 months as a coach of a team that for me would not be the same as the other teams.”
“During these 18 months I have lived with a very high ion and this month has been an unforgettable month for me. This decision is very painful, but I have considered it well.”
Gattuso reiterated that he had no motivation to leave AC Milan this season.
He said he was purely resigned because he felt Milan deserved a better coach than himself.
“Did I finally dump the remaining two years of my contract? Yes, because my story with Milan can never be measured by money.” he said.
Until this news was released on Wednesday (28/5) at 16:15 WIB, there was no official statement from AC Milan’s management regarding Gattuso’s resignation as their current coach.
