Gareth Bale stormed off following a 4-0 defeat by Denmark in the last 16 of the 2020 European Championship at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam on Saturday night.
The Real Madrid forward refused to answer the questions and got away when the BBC reporter asked if this was his last game for Wales.
“It’s not how we wanted the game to go, from our point of view we started very well and then the game changed,” Bales said.
“We tried to play in the second half but made a mistake to concede which killed the momentum on our side. To finish how we did is disappointed but the boys are frustrated and angry understandably, I’d prefer us to go out that way.
“If you play the ball through the back of someone it’s a foul, I felt the ref was influenced by the ers here.” Bale added.
Denmark become the first team to make the quarter-finals of the 2020 European Championship with a statement 4-0 win over Wales. Kasper Dolberg’s brace and goal each from Joakim Maehle and Martin Braithwaite took Denmark to the huge victory.
Harry Wilson managed to tget himself sent off in the second half after making a rash tackle near the middle of the pitch. It was clear that he lost his nerves as Denmark was already leading 0-3 at that point.
“It’s disappointing that’s all I can say. We’ve missed an opportunity but I can’t fault the effort and that’s the minimum requirement, I’m proud of them still.” Bale said.
Now Denmark travel to Baku for a quarter-finals showdown against either the Netherlands or the Czech Republic next Saturday.
