The excitement for the season of the UEFA Women’s Champions League is slowly gaining heat and we are in line to witness some of the most exciting encounters in the tournament. As per the announced fixtures of the 2023-2024 season, Chelsea will be stacked in the same group with  arch-rivals Real Madrid while PSG, Bayern Munich, Roma, and Ajax make up another group.

What’s shocking this time is that there are several big names missing from the group stage draw, with the likes of Arsenal, Juventus, Manchester United, and last season’s runners-up Wolfsburg all crashing out in qualifying to open up widespread debate around the competition’s format. Here’s a quick overview of the Groups for the 2023-2024 season.

Group A:

  • Eintracht Frankfurt

Group B:

  • Lyon,
  • Slavia Prague
  • St. Polten
  • Brann

Group C:

  • Bayern Munich

  • Paris FC

While the this season will be kicked of with Rosengard taking on Eintracht Frankfurt on the 14th of November, it will be the matches from the next day that will plant the seeds of excitement fir the tournament. Here are the major matches to lookout for:

  • Defending Champs Barca will be taking on Benfica in their first Champions League encounter on the 15th of November.
  • Bayern Munich will lock horns against Roma on the 15th of November.
  • Eight time winners and the most successful team in the Women’s Champions League circuit, Lyon, will be going up against Sylvia Praha on the 15th of November.
  • The Chelsea women will be up against Real Madrid to begin their League campaign on 16th November
  • PSG will be up against Ajax on the 16th of November. 

It will be interesting to see which team comes out on top this time to lift the Champions League title. The Barcelona Women’s team are clearly the top favorites this season, having won the previous season by defeating VfL Wolfsburg in the finals with a thrilling 3–2 victory to win the title for the second time. The 2022 champions Lyon will be looking for redemption, getting knocked out in the quarter finals in the last season against Chelsea.
