Dewa United Esports kicked off the fourth week of MPL ID S15 with a dramatic win over EVOS, locking in a 2-1 score in a fierce duel on Friday night, April 18. This victory was a turning point for Anak Dewa who had previously suffered three consecutive defeats.
Dewa United Esports brought in a major change by bringing in a coaching duo from the Philippines, namely Jayson ‘Bombi’ Echem and Kurt ‘Kurtt’ William A. Recto, who provided a new strategy. They also recruited Muhammad Reza ‘Rezz’ Kurniawan, a former ONIC Esports player, as EXP Laner to strengthen defense and battle strategy.
Coach Bombi immediately deployed his best roster in the match against EVOS, fielding Reyy, Maybee, Muezza, Rezz, and Octa.
In the first game, Dewa United played disciplined and managed to secure three Turtles and three Lords, even though they only had a slight advantage in networth. The team closed the first game in the 19th minute with a victory thanks to a neat objective strategy.
Entering the second game, EVOS began to dominate the game thanks to the combination of Chip and Hilda, which made it difficult for Dewa United to farm and level. Objective dominance shifted to Macan Putih, and EVOS managed to equalize the score to 1-1.
The third game was the deciding factor. Dewa United again controlled the game with high discipline. Maybee who used Granger managed to provide crucial damage in the team fight. The big momentum came in the 16th minute, when Dewa United successfully eliminated three EVOS Glory players in the Lord pit area, immediately made the final push and closed the match with a win.
Delvin ‘Maybee’ was named the MVP of the match thanks to his contribution in securing the objective and providing damage that ensured Dewa United’s victory.
Muezza, Dewa United’s Roamer, emphasized that this victory was thanks to the increased team discipline after the arrival of coaches Bombi and Kurt. These two coaches helped the team to play more neatly and orderly, both inside and outside the game. He also praised the positive impact of Rezz’s presence, saying that his presence brought a breath of fresh air because of his different playing style, making the team appear fresher against EVOS.
This positive result made Dewa United Esports rise to sixth place in the standings and maintain their chances of qualifying for the MPL ID S15 playoffs. In addition, the victory over EVOS was a morale booster for Anak Dewa, who are preparing to face Geek Fam ID in a crucial match on Sunday, April 20.
