Chelsea tried to appear aggressive from the start of the match. In the 24th minute, the hosts scored a goal through Adarabioyo’s action who was standing freely when receiving a from Reece James.
This goal was initially disallowed by referee Simon Hooper because he considered Adarabioyo to have been standing in an offside position. However, Hooper finally validated it after reviewing the VAR.
Chelsea failed to maintain their lead after Doherty scored in the fifth minute of first-half injury time taking advantage of Robert Sanchez’s mistake. The score was 1-1 at the end of the first half.
Returning from the dressing room, Chelsea continued their dominance. The hosts created several chances, but none resulted in a second goal.
Chelsea successfully took the lead again in the 60th minute. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s cross found Cucurella who was standing free in front of Wolves’ goal. He easily tapped the ball into a goal.
Five minutes later, Chelsea increased their lead to 3-1. Cole Palmer’s free kick was headed by Trevoh Chalobah. Before the ball crossed the goal line, Madueke headed it into a goal.
There were no additional goals scored in the remaining time. The final score of the match was 3-1 for Chelsea’s victory.
Trevoh Chalobah deserved to be named the best player from Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Wolverhampton.
Chalobah has just returned to Chelsea after being sent home from a loan spell at Crystal Palace. The 25-year-old defender’s presence has proven to be vital to the Blues’ back line.
Chalobah showed an extraordinary performance from a defensive perspective, recording seven clearances, three interceptions and six duel wins.
In addition, Chalobah should have scored Chelsea’s third goal. However, his header that was heading towards an empty net was headed by Madueke before the ball crossed the goal line.
