The Brooklyn Nets have put Cam Thomas on the trade block, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic. The lack of a contract extension for the player would be the biggest hint, according to reports.
It could be a way of going against the recent comments made by Sean Marks, the GM of the franchise at this time, that insisted that they will not chase down tanking in the NBA.
“Nets leading scorer Cam Thomas was unable to reach an extension with the Nets.” Amick said.
“So he’s a target for a few teams and is considered widely available right now. At the right price, we could see him on the negotiating table,” Amick added.
Thomas has been the franchise’s main offensive player since the second half of the 2023/24 season. His averages in 2024/25 are 24.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists.
Moreover, he averages 45.8 percent on the total shots attempted while on the three point mark he shoots 39.2 percent. These all represent its best hits in his performing career to date.
But the list of trades could be even longer. Starting from old teammates from rumours and even centre Nic Claxton, who signed a new contract with the franchise in free agency, the media lists more names that could be sent to a trade in the nearest future.
“In addition to Cam Thomas, the Nets have plenty of other players available for trade.” Amick said.
“Dennis Schroder and Bojan Bogdanovic, for example, are two veterans who have proven themselves in the playoffs.
“I would also throw in Nic Claxton, despite g a $100 million extension this offseason.
“Brooklyn’s long-term mindset means that everyone could be on the table. Don’t forget Cam Johnson, who is having a great year,” he added.
Two other names on the roster that have been linked to rumours consistently are Dorian Finney-Smith and Day’Ron Sharpe, a centre.
And this has always been experienced from the start of the season period. Ben Simmons is also another player that could have prospects but his market value is very low at the moment.
