Blizzard claims that its newest event, namely BlizzCon 2024, will not be held. According to Blizzard, he prioritizes other events by participating as a big guest star at Gamescom, as well as other events that will be held in America and Europe throughout 2024.
In its press release, Blizzard has also prepared several tournaments such as the Overwatch Champions Series which will be held in Dallas and Stockholm, as well as several events to celebrate Warcraft’s 30th anniversary. But this event is not a reason for Blizzard to cancel BlizzCon 2024.
This is the third time BlizzCon has been canceled in the past three decades, considering that 2021 and 2022 were also canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic that hit, as well as several cases of Blizzard’s CEO which forced the company to have a lower profile so as not to be hit by cancellation attacks from the gaming industry.
In 2023, Blizzard is the first time with an event that has a fantastic entrance ticket price, namely $299 USD for an entrance ticket which contains several benefits for Blizzard games, such as free item content for Overwatch 2, Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, and World of Warcraft.
BlizzCon in 2025 will be Blizzard’s first 20th anniversary, which means Blizzard must focus more on strengthening its franchise with various interesting events in 2025. However, there will be announcements of special Blizzard guest stars at big events such as Gamescom, which will be held in in August 2024.
