Adrian Otaegui claimed a second European Tour title after defeating Benjamin Hebert in the final of the inaugural Belgian Knockout.
The 25-year-old despatched Jorge Campillo and David Drysdale to reach the final of the nine-hole stroke play format, where he posted a score of three under to secure a two-shot victory.
Hebert mixed two birdies with a sole blemish to end the week runner-up at Rinkven International Golf Club, as Drysdale defeated James Heath by a shot in the third-fourth place play-off.
“I’m very happy,” Otaegui told Sky Sports. “We both played very good golf and I’m just very proud of my week.”
Both players found the trees off the opening tee on their way to posting bogey-fives, as Hebert holed a 15-foot gain at the second and matched Otaegui’s two-putt par at the third.
Oteagui’s tee shot at the fourth bounced over the water hazard and ended in the rough, before he fired his second shot to three feet and rolled in a birdie to level the contest.
The Spaniard squandered a birdie opportunity at the fifth but drained a 20-footer at the par-three next to move ahead, with Otaegui getting up and down to exchange birdies with Hebert at the seventh.
A tap-in gain at the eighth doubled Otaegui’s advantage heading to the par-four last, where a par was enough to seal a first victory since the 2017 Paul Lawrie Match Play.
Home favourite Nicolas Colsaerts crashed out at the quarter-final stage with a narrow loss against Heath, with Victor Perez the other player to exit from the last eight.
