Item changes can significantly impact the build meta and influence how you approach itemization in your games. To keep yourself in the loop, check out the most important item changes in Patch 7.39 below.
Biggest Neutral Items changes
This season’s cycle sees 12 neutral items removed from the pool. The items no longer in Dota 2 are as follows: Orb of Destruction [Tier 1], Pig Pole [Tier 1], Trusty Shovel [Tier 1], Gossamer Cape [Tier 2], Iron Talon [Tier 2], Nemesis Curse [Tier 3], Ninja Gear [Tier 3], Ceremonial Robe [Tier 3], Ogre Seal Totem [Tier 3], Mind Breaker [Tier 4], Magic Lamp [Tier 5], and Pirate Hat [Tier 5].
Balancing the change, Dota 2 welcomed 13 new and returning neutral items, which are as follows:
Tier 1:
- Chipped Vest (Returning)
- Everytime you are attacked, you return 30 damage to heroes and 20 damage to creeps
- Dormant Curio (New)
- Neutral Artifact you choose while holding Dormant Curio will have 30% increased potency
- Kobold Cup (New)
- Increases movement speed of all allies within 1000 units by 10% for 6s. Mana Cost: 40. Cooldown: 40s
- Sister’s Shroud (New)
- Whenever your health falls below 50% you gain a +200% evasion bonus for 8s. Each attack negated by evasion reduces this evasion bonus to 0.25x of its current value
Tier 2:
- Poor Man’s Shield (Returning)
- Grants a 50% chance to block 30 damage from attacks on melee wielders, or 20 damage on ranged. Chance to proc increased to 100% against hero attacks
Tier 3:
- Jidi Pollen Bag (New)
- Spread pollen on enemies within 700 units, decreasing their Health Restoration by 20% for 12s and dealing 12% of the target’s max health as damage over the duration.
- Psychic Headband (Returning)
- Pushes the target enemy away from you 400 distance. Cast Range: 600. No Mana Cost. Cooldown: 20s
Tier 4:
- Dezun Bloodrite (New)
- Increases Spell AoE by 15%, but Spells now also cost health equal to 35% of their mana cost
- Outworld Staff (New)
- Removes the caster from the world, making them invulnerable and disabled for 0.7s
Tier 5:
- Divine Regalia (New)
- Increases outgoing damage by 20%. If the wearer is killed, the item permanently loses the current Enchantment and turns into a Disgraced Regalia
- Disgraced Regalia (New)
- Appears only to heroes that died with Divine Regalia artifact. Since the 4th slot is taken by your current Artifact when recrafting items, it is possible to recraft Disgraced Regalia with working Tier 5 Enchantment. The usual Divine Regalia still can reappear among the other 3 choices
- Helm of the Undying (Returning)
- Survive for an extra 5 seconds after receiving a killing blow. Enemy heroes dying within 1200 units extends this effect by 5 seconds
Other neutrals did not receive any adjustments, apart from Mana Draught, which has been moved from Tier 1 to Tier 2 with increased stats.
Shop item changes
The Dota 2 shop saw some significant changes to several items, the majority being heavy nerfs.
Kaya no longer has the +25% Spell Lifesteal Amplification, which also affects its upgrades, the Yasha and Kaya, and Meteor Hammer.
Patch 7.39 also targeted the Eye of Skadi, increasing its total cost by 600 gold and replacing its +250 Health and +250 Mana perk with an attribute bonus increase from +22 to +35. Its Cold Attack ive also no longer stacks with Orb of Frost and Orb of Corrosion.
More nerfs rolled out to other items, affecting Glimmer Cape, Holy Locket, Rod of Atos, and Radiance. Glimmer, which has been a universal item in the game, is hit with a Magic Resistance nerf, dropping by 5%. The Holy Locket sees a major 10% decrease in its Heal Amplification, meanwhile, the Radiance now has a 15% Evasion bonus instead of 20%.
The Rod of Atos suffers a drop in Intelligence bonus and a 100% mana increase for its active spell, from 50 to 100. This nerf also affects its upgrade, Gleipnir.
Some neutral adjustments affected the Blink Dagger and all three of its upgraded versions, which no longer have an overshoot range. This means there will be no penalty for using the dagger outside of its range. Helm items also saw a price drop, Linken’s Sphere has a minor Health Regen bonus, and Bloodstone has a slight cooldown buff.
