Esports legend and best League of Legends player in history, Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok, has teamed up with Wild Rift to teach new players about his iconic champion, Ryze. Riot Games has released the masterclass video on Wild Rift’s official YouTube channel, showing Faker discussing Ryze’s gameplay and explaining the champion’s strengths.
Ryze is known as a strong late-game carry thanks to his ability to spam fast rotations. However, in the PC version, Ryze often takes a long time to improve his abilities, making him a rare meta champion. With the implementation of Fearless Draft, Ryze began to appear in professional play, with 40 picks recorded in tier-one competitions according to Games of Legends data.
In Wild Rift, Ryze has more intuitive controls and a faster game tempo, allowing players to scale quickly and dominate the Rift. Faker explained, “In Wild Rift, the controls are intuitive, so you will adapt quickly. Plus, the game tempo is fast so you can scale quickly and take over the Rift.”
Ryze’s kit in Wild Rift has undergone many changes compared to the PC version. The champion excels at farming thanks to his Spell Flux ability, which spreads damage to multiple targets. Here are some of Ryze’s basic trading combos:
- Spell Flux
- Rune Prison
- Overload
- Spell Flux and Overload
Ryze’s ultimate, Realm Warp, is similar to the PC version but has additional effects. Upon landing, Ryze and the teleported ally gain extra movement speed, making him perfect for ganks and coordinated team play. Faker added, “You can TP from mid to Dragon lane to do surprise ganks or get a big lead in split-pushing.”
Ryze will be coming to Wild Rift after Patch 6.1 releases on April 17, 2025. He will be released alongside two other champions, Nocturne and Zilean. Despite his great potential, Ryze may be difficult for new players to master as he requires strong mechanical skills to perform combo trades.
