Arsenal won in the second week of the 2024/2025 Premier League. Visiting Aston Villa’s headquarters, The Gunners won with a score of 2-0, Saturday (24/8/2024).

In this match, both teams were unable to score goals throughout the first half. However, Arsenal was able to break through Aston Villa’s goal in the second half through Leandro Trossard and Thomas Partey.

Last season, Aston Villa recorded home and away wins against Arsenal, results that ultimately ended the Gunners’ dream of lifting a first Premier League trophy since 2003-04.

Aston Villa are also the only team to have beaten Arsenal in this calendar year, with the Gunners winning 17 and drawing one of their 19 games in 2024. However, Mikel Arteta’s side have now overcome the challenge of the 1982 European Cup winners.

Thanks to this victory, Arsenal is ranked third in the 2024/2025 EPL standings with six points. Meanwhile, Aston Villa had to be satisfied with being in 12th place with three points.

The match was fierce from the start of the first half. Both teams attacked each other.

Arsenal got the first chance through Declan Rice in the 6th minute. However, his shot was still saved by goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

Arsenal threatened again through Bukayo Saka in the 15th minute. However, Martinez performed brilliantly by deflecting Saka’s shot.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa almost scored a goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, Ollie Watkins’ shot was still slightly wide of Arsenal’s goal.

Despite having another chance, both teams still had difficulty scoring goals. Until the long whistle was blown, the score remained 0-0.

Entering the second half, Aston Villa almost scored a goal in the 54th minute. Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya managed to ward off Ollie Watkins’ close-range header.

Arsenal finally broke the deadlock in the 67th minute. Leandro Trossard scored a goal by grabbing a loose ball in the penalty box and making the score 1-0.

The Gunners did not have to wait long to add to the score. 10 minutes later, Thomas Partey managed to break through Aston Villa’s goal with a shot from the edge of the penalty box.

After that, no additional goals were scored until the second half ended. Arsenal managed to win the match at Aston Villa’s headquarters with a score of 2-0.
