Lewandowski has confirmed the rumours and announced his intention to leave Bayern Munich in the last match at the Bundesliga.
The Polish striker itted he wants to find a new challenge in European football, and this new challenge is related to Barcelona.
“It could well be my last game for Bayern. I can’t say 100 percent, but it could be. We have to find the best solution for the club and me,” Lewandowski said.
“I can confirm that I spoke to Hasan [Salihamidzic, Bayern sporting director] and informed him that the decision was made, and that I am not extending my contract with FC Bayern.
“Both sides have to think about the future. It’s best if we find the best solution for both sides.” he added.
Lewandowski’s contract at the Allianz Arena runs until June 2023 but he has confirmed that he has no intention of extending and wants to leave the club if the right offer is accepted.
“I said to Salihamidzic that if an offer comes, then we have to think about it, also for the club. Both sides have to think about the future. That’s all I can say.” Lewandowski said.
Lewandowski is without a doubt one of the best strikers in European football history. Since ing Bayern Munich from rivals Borussia Dortmund, the 34-year-old forward has broken record after record. This season, he has netted 49 goals in 45 matches.
During his time at German champions, Lewandowski has scored 343 goals in all competitions.
Oliver Kahn, Bayern’s chief executive, on the other hand, told Amazon Prime last month that they would be ‘stupid’ to allow Lewandowski to leave.
“We are and will be in talks about his future in the next weeks. He has a contract until June 2023 and we’ll definitely have him with us for another season.” Kahn said.
