And World Cup Golden Boot winner Kane believes the Blues will once again set the example for the rest of the league to follow. “It will take a very good season (to challenge Manchester City ) but we’ve been up there for the last few years now,” Kane told Sky Sports News. “City had an amazing year last year but the Premier League is tough and it doesn’t always happen like that to go year on year so we’ve just got to focus on ourselves and see what we can do.” No side has managed to retain the English top division title since Manchester United did so in 2009, and Guardiola insists winning the league title remains his main ambition ahead of European success next season.
“It will be a huge mistake to think: ‘OK now we have the Premier League, we are now going to go for the Champions League instead’. Big mistake,” he told Sky Sports in May. “To be out of the Champions League and win the Premier League again, I’d sign it now. The Premier League is the most important thing.
