The Egyptian star Mohamed Salah expects to return from injury to play in the 2018 World Cup 30434d

Mohamed Salah is expected to return in three weeks from the shoulder injury to play in the 2018 World Cup in Russia against Uruguay on June 15, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has revealed.

At the end of May, the Liverpool striker Salah left the Olimpiysky Stadium with his shoulder injury in a slam having been forced out of the Champions League final in the 30th minute following a challenge by Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos.

However, the 25-year-old striker has indicated he will be fit to return action in earlier this month, meaning he should be able to go the World Cup with Egypt.

According to reports, EFA president Hani Abu Reda, national team doctor Mohamed Abu El-Ela and head coach Hector Cuper have travelled to Valencia City in Spain on Wednesday to make sure Salah’s treatment and recovery before World Cup match.

“For his part, Mohamed Abu El-Ela [national team doctor] confirmed that the period of absence of Salah due to injury will not exceed three weeks.” the EFA issued the statement.

Salah has made a huge impact in the Anfield since his £36.9 million move from AS Roma, having netted 46 goals and assisted 14 in all competitions for Liverpool this season. He has also won the 2017/18 Premier League Golden Boot, moved two-goals clear of Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane for the first time

Egypt head coach Hector Cuper on the other hand he is very confident Salah’s recovery is on track, with team due to play their opening World Cup match in Russia.

“After Salah’s injury I still have the same hopes and aspirations. I can never give up,” Egypt head coach Cuper told reporters in Bergamo, Italy.

“Injuries happen in football but, with our enthusiasm and ambition as it is, we have confidence in our ability to overcome any difficulties we face. Certainly Salah’s injury was the most important recent event.” Cuper added.

An Egyptian lawyer, meanwhile, has launched a £873 million lawsuit and filled a complaint to FIFA against Real skipper Ramos after Salah landed heavily on his left shoulder during Saturday’s Champions League final.
